Story behind foto:

Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending an event which took place at the California Capitol Building, in Sacramento.  The building serves as a museum and the state’s working area of the government. When visiting the Capitol you can explore the history of the state by browsing around the museum, or overlook the Senate Chamber floor during an actual proceeding.

The building is surrounded by the beautiful Capitol Park made up of gorgeous lawns, flower gardens, trees and memorials. The park measures 40 acres and it spans twelve city blocks – it is HUGE! If you ever visit the area take a walk around the Capitol Park and take-in the beauty that surrounds you.

I recently purchased several nail polish from Sally’s Beauty Store that were on clearance. Here is one of my favorites – Foie Gras by China Glaze from their Hunger Games collection.

Foie Gras is a milky, dark chocolate, brown which is a fantastic color for fall and I am sure I will be wearing it quite often.

What colors do you like for the fall?

Today’s post is a little different. I would love hear from YOU. I want to know if you volunteer in your community, and if so, why? What do you do, how long have you been volunteering, lessons you have learned because of it, and what’s your favorite part about it?  Volunteering is something that I really believe and enjoy, how about you?

You see, last weekend was my first time volunteering in this new community of mine and I had such a great time. I was part of a small group made up of co-workers, we participated in a large annual community clean-up day where we helped beautify (aka pick up trash) a trail that runs a long a large river that goes thru the valley where I now live.

The foto was taken toward the end of the morning, a few hours into the clean-up event. My group and I had finished cleaning up one portion of the bike trail and moved on to another side, right off the trail there was a huge, I mean HUGE bush of green vines full of bright colored flower. I could not help myself and I had to take several foto’s, here’s one. The event was awesome! I had a great time contributing to the well-being of the parkway, but I must say I loved the nature aspects. I loved walking around the trails and exploring a new area. It felt so go to get out early in the morning, walk around, mingle with others, but at the same time knowing that I was contributing to a greater cause – the well-being and health of the parkway, and all the little critters and animals that live in that area.

So, once again, why do you volunteer?

Welcome back to Tipsy Tuesday! As you may know, last week Cristy shared her Fall Nail Colors, this week I will be sharing mine. Added bonus, if you are anything like us it will help feed your nail polish addiction.

I am a little sad to say “good bye” to all my bright pinks, corals, and minty greens, however I am very excited to rock dark polishes. I am a huge fan of dark polishes!

Below are some of the fall colors I am looking forward to rocking.

Tough Art To Follow:  a deep, dark, matte green. This reminds me of seaweed.

Purr-Fect Plum: a deep, matte plum.  I really love this color and I think it is great for a date night out.

Naughty: a purpley, grayish, and slightly pearlescent. Once again, I love this color and I will definitely be wearing throughout the fall.

Nirvana: a grayish milky chocolate. Cristy and I both loved this color!

Let us know what fall colors are your favorites or which you plan to wear often, use the hash tag #TipsyTuesdayCtoC.

Till next time 🙂

Story behind foto: As I mentioned last week, I was in San Diego during Labor Day weekend to celebrate my birthday with friends. On Saturday morning, we decided to get a massage, which is starting to become a tradition when we get together. As we drove around the Gaslamp Quarter, we found a little massage spot called Happy Head Foot Reflexology and Massage… Yeah, we thought the same thing. At first, we were a little skeptical, but we decided to be adventurous and try it. We were so amazed by the service, Lynn, the receptionist, was so nice and helpful, and our one hour Asian Style massage was unlike anything we have ever tried. We were definitely “Happy Heads” after our massage.

After our massage, we got to know Lynn a bit and she clued us in on how the name came about and gave us a little “tour” of the place. What added to our experience were all the art pieces throughout the gallery/massage studio. Lynn, as self-proclaimed “massage addict” with a marketing/interior design/retail background decided to put it all together and create this one of a kind place. She now has two locations. If you happen to be in San Diego, go check it out and say “hello” to Lynn.

Welcome to Tipsy Tuesday! No, no, not that kind of tipsy. The tipsy I’m referring to is nail tips. You see Cat and I have a bit of an obsession (I like to think of it as passion) for nail polish and anything nails, so we decided to start this weekly segment…Tipsy Tuesday! We are super excited to share with you a tip or two of what drives our nail obsession!

With Fall right around the corner I decided that our first segment will be a Fall nail polish color preview. So here it goes…

Time to put away the summer brights and break out the Fall palette.  I recently went to Walgreens and fell in love with the large selection the Sinful Colors line had to offer for only $1.99!!!! Definitely a steal! Below are a few of the fall colors I purchased.

Kissy – A deep, glittery, turquoise. Perfect for a night on the town. This one is by far my favorite, it reminds me of a mermaid!

Nirvana – A matte grayish chocolate. I plan on using this color on the regular. It’s very simple but elegant.

Slate – I’ve never been a fan of grey polish, but this one just called my name. I am so glad I bought it.

Burgandy – The name says it all. It’s a very deep burgundy and I loooove it! I think this color is classic and can go with anything.

Stay tuned for our next segment next week 😉

Story behind foto: I am back! These last few weeks have been quite hectic in my world, but I won’t bore you with the details. Moving on to the fun stuff, here’s a foto I took over Labor Day weekend in San Diego, Calif. where I celebrated my birthday. While I was there I realized I never visited San Diego while living in Southern California, what a shame, it truly is a beauty city.

The foto was taken while on a while on a stroll through Seaport Village, the restaurant is called Edgewater Grill and it sits directly on the water. Something about the building and the setting captured my eye and here you have it.

Enjoy!
