In true Cristy fashion my post is running a bit late, but like they say, “better late than never.” 🙂

I would like to take the time to celebrate Cat’s birthday on our blog. You see, this Cat is pretty cool so I thought what better way to celebrate her than to share a list of 5 Reasons Why Cat is quite Amazing!

  1. She makes some mean sangria. Cat has always been the hostess with the mostess. I’m lucky to say that I have attended a few of her gatherings where she has served homemade, thirst quenching sangria. Drool.
  2. She is an excellent gym buddy. It’s safe to say that when we lived in the same city, 80% of our friendship was spent at the gym having life planning conversations…oh and working out.
  3. She has a pretty immense nail polish collection. Need I say more? Her collection is so awesome, her boyfriend bought her a nail salon rack to display her collection.
  4. She has a kind soul. This girl has a heart of gold. She is philanthropic by nature and is always putting others needs before hers. I admire her so much for that.
  5. She is an amazing friend. At the risk of sounding mushy, Cat is an exceptional friend. Through the good, the bad and the wild, she is always there. Whether it be to give advice, listen, dream a little or go on an adventure, she can always be counted on.

Happy 4th of July and welcome back to our 4th day of 4th of July nails!

For our final nail art post I decided to go with something simple yet fun, I like to call it Party in the USA. There is no need for any fancy artistic technique for this design, simply have fun with it. The picture of the final product is self explanatory, but just in case you want to know what strategy I used, read below.

What you will need:

  1. Red nail polish (Sally Hansen)
  2. Royal blue nail polish w/blue glitter undertone (Sinful Colors at CVS)
  3. Glitter polish with red, blue and silver sparkles (Off Brand)
  4. Angled paint brush + nail polish remover
  5. Miley CyrusParty in the USA playing in the background 😉

polish

Steps:

I have this horrible habit of applying too many colors and too many layers at the same time and then simply ruining my polish.  Since I knew I would be using three different colors this time around, I decided to take it one color at a time.

1. Painted my thumb, middle and pinky fingers with the red polish and let the 1st and 2nd coat completely dry before moving on to the next color. Once these were completely dry I took my angled brush, dipped it in nail polish remover and cleaned around the edges. I chose to go with the red first, because it has been my experience that red polish is the messiest…especially when it comes to cleaning around the edges.

2. I went ahead and did one coat of glitter on my ring and pinky fingers.

3. I then applied two coats of the blue polish on my index finger. While that dried I applied two more coats of glitter on my ring and pinky fingers.

4. When the blue was completely dry I cleaned around the edges, applied top coat and wallahhh!

Like I said, the design is pretty simple, but I love it and I will definitely be rocking it at the 4th of July block party.

While you wait to hear which presidential candidate will win the presidency, you should go to www.astrologyzone.com for some of the most detailed and accurate horoscopes I’ve ever read.

Astrology has always been pretty fascinating to me. I can’t say that I’m extremely well versed on the topic, but I know enough to know that I believe the stars are somewhat telling of our personality traits.

Whether you believe in the power of the cosmic stars or not I highly encourage you to check out Susan Millers’ monthly horoscopes. Prepare to me mind blown ;).

Let us know what your thoughts are.

I used to never live in the moment. See, I was always too concerned about what lie ahead and what I should be doing in order for my life to pan out just how I had planned it out in my head. When life didn’t develop the way I meticulously planned, I would get so down on myself and dwell on the WHY?’s. When something didn’t go as planned I saw it as a negative and never moved past it.

In my case, I think life was determined to teach me to leave that negative thinking behind and live in the moment/trust that although life wasn’t exactly going the way I planned, there was a method behind all the madness. Unfortunately It has taken many twists and turns for me to open my eyes to the idea (which I hope one day I’ll be courageous enough to share with you all), but I now get it. Everything happens for a reason.

I think that often we want to be the best that we can be, so we over plan. Amidst our life planning we forget that we can only plan so much. Life too wants the best for us, and we have to learn to let her lead. Whether life takes us through good times or some unpleasant journeys she always has  method to her madness.

To this day, I still find that I am learning to let life guide me through this journey. I don’t know that I will ever completely understand it, but what I have learned is that having faith that everything happens for a reason has reduced stress in my life and  made me a happier person.

I encourage you to take a moment today and let life lead the way. 🙂

Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to participate in a fall tradition – visiting a pumpkin patch. Lemos  farm is located in Half Moon Bay, Calif., not too far from San Francisco. The farm is ideal for little ones because it offers pony rides, it has a mini train that goes on a short ride, and there’s also a hay ride, but we were unable to make because the little ones had a melt-down. Oh, and for those who are a bit older there’s also a haunted house on-site but that was not an option for us. The farm also has goats, chickens, and a little duck pond, which make a fun feeding experience for children.

Like I said, they have a pumpkin patch and they have plenty to choose from. These pumpkins inspired today’s tutorial:

Start off by using an orange nail polish to make a semi wide line through the middle of your nail, start from the mid section to the edge. Then you will follow with two semi wide lines on each side of the middle, start a little lower so you have one tall and two shorter lines.

Then with a dotting tool (or a small fine brush) dip it in a dark color, I am using a forest green, to outline the edge of your pumpkin.

Once the outlines have been defined, add a stem on top of the taller orange line.

Now you should have something similar to this:

I added color to my other two nails without a pumpkin so I would not have naked nails. You can choose to leave then are they are or add color. Depending on how creative you want to get you can also add faces or make them with different colors, totally up to you, let your creativity flow.

Products used:

  • Mad About Mango by Revlon
  • Tough Art to Follow by Finger Paints
  • a small tip dotting tool
  • a medium tip dotting tool

Let me know if you re-create these nails.

Hope you enjoy, CAT

Hi all, it’s Cristy here! On a second attempt at Foto Friday. Lets hope I do as good a job as Miss Catalina. 🙂

Story behind foto: About two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to go to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for five days and during my stay I went foto crazy! It is such a gorgeous place with some amazing views and I thought I’d share one with you all today. I took this foto from inside the pool at the resort (I know, risky taking a camera in water). I love this foto, because it captures the beauty of the ocean water and I think that the palm tree adds character to the background. In the picture you can also see the rain clouds clearing up. You see, it had just rained before I took this foto, but it was so hot and humid that I didn’t leave the pool because the fresh rain felt so great.

I hope that you enjoy this foto as much as I do.

Keeping with the theme of last weeks post and Halloween a few weeks away, here is another nail tutorial.

This one is a simple and easy to do, all you need are an orange and a black sparkly polish.

As you can see, this one is way easy, simple and perfect for any halloween party or gathering.

Once again, let me know if you decide to re-create the look.

Thank you for visiting, CAT

Story behind foto: Lately I have noticed a theme with the fotos I take or is it called my style. Whatever it’s called I like to shoot objects up-close and personal.

Here you have a perfect example – a close-up of a flakey tree bark overlooking a lake. There is something that caught my attention, I ended taking multiple fotos from different angles and then I treated them with varies filter.  Here you have final result.

Thank you for visiting, CAT

A few days back I saw a featured mani on @Julepmaven (Julep, a monthly nail polish and other beauty products subscription) on Instagram and I loved it so much I had to recreate the look. The original design was created by @libedon (aka The Polished Fox).

The design is pretty simple and easy to recreate, but I specially love the color combination. The polishes I used are: “Natural” by Love & Beauty (Forever 21 nail polish line), and “Man Hunt” by China Glaze.

What do you think, you like?

Also. feel free to follow me on Intagram @Kitty5289.

Thanks for visiting, CAT.
