Halloween is tomorrow and even though I’m too old to trick-or-treat I’m definitely not too old to still have a little fun. In the spirit of Halloween, I decided to take a stab (no pun intended) at painting my nails “bloody red”.  Below are simple instructions on how to do it.

Step 1: Using a deep red nail polish draw a couple of (uneven) red lines and then place a dot or two of polish close to your cuticle line in order to create a dripping effect.

Step 2: Using the same red color, paint the tips of your polish. As you apply polish to the tips, ensure that the polish is blending with the drips.

Step 3: Apply topcoat and wualah!

Have a Happy Happy Halloween!!!

Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to participate in a fall tradition – visiting a pumpkin patch. Lemos  farm is located in Half Moon Bay, Calif., not too far from San Francisco. The farm is ideal for little ones because it offers pony rides, it has a mini train that goes on a short ride, and there’s also a hay ride, but we were unable to make because the little ones had a melt-down. Oh, and for those who are a bit older there’s also a haunted house on-site but that was not an option for us. The farm also has goats, chickens, and a little duck pond, which make a fun feeding experience for children.

Like I said, they have a pumpkin patch and they have plenty to choose from. These pumpkins inspired today’s tutorial:

Start off by using an orange nail polish to make a semi wide line through the middle of your nail, start from the mid section to the edge. Then you will follow with two semi wide lines on each side of the middle, start a little lower so you have one tall and two shorter lines.

Then with a dotting tool (or a small fine brush) dip it in a dark color, I am using a forest green, to outline the edge of your pumpkin.

Once the outlines have been defined, add a stem on top of the taller orange line.

Now you should have something similar to this:

I added color to my other two nails without a pumpkin so I would not have naked nails. You can choose to leave then are they are or add color. Depending on how creative you want to get you can also add faces or make them with different colors, totally up to you, let your creativity flow.

Products used:

  • Mad About Mango by Revlon
  • Tough Art to Follow by Finger Paints
  • a small tip dotting tool
  • a medium tip dotting tool

Let me know if you re-create these nails.

Hope you enjoy, CAT

Keeping with the theme of last weeks post and Halloween a few weeks away, here is another nail tutorial.

This one is a simple and easy to do, all you need are an orange and a black sparkly polish.

As you can see, this one is way easy, simple and perfect for any halloween party or gathering.

Once again, let me know if you decide to re-create the look.

Thank you for visiting, CAT

A few days back I saw a featured mani on @Julepmaven (Julep, a monthly nail polish and other beauty products subscription) on Instagram and I loved it so much I had to recreate the look. The original design was created by @libedon (aka The Polished Fox).

The design is pretty simple and easy to recreate, but I specially love the color combination. The polishes I used are: “Natural” by Love & Beauty (Forever 21 nail polish line), and “Man Hunt” by China Glaze.

What do you think, you like?

Thanks for visiting, CAT.

Welcome back to Tipsy Tuesday! As you may know, last week Cristy shared her Fall Nail Colors, this week I will be sharing mine. Added bonus, if you are anything like us it will help feed your nail polish addiction.

I am a little sad to say “good bye” to all my bright pinks, corals, and minty greens, however I am very excited to rock dark polishes. I am a huge fan of dark polishes!

Below are some of the fall colors I am looking forward to rocking.

Tough Art To Follow:  a deep, dark, matte green. This reminds me of seaweed.

Purr-Fect Plum: a deep, matte plum.  I really love this color and I think it is great for a date night out.

Naughty: a purpley, grayish, and slightly pearlescent. Once again, I love this color and I will definitely be wearing throughout the fall.

Nirvana: a grayish milky chocolate. Cristy and I both loved this color!

Let us know what fall colors are your favorites or which you plan to wear often, use the hash tag #TipsyTuesdayCtoC.

Till next time 🙂

Welcome to Tipsy Tuesday! No, no, not that kind of tipsy. The tipsy I’m referring to is nail tips. You see Cat and I have a bit of an obsession (I like to think of it as passion) for nail polish and anything nails, so we decided to start this weekly segment…Tipsy Tuesday! We are super excited to share with you a tip or two of what drives our nail obsession!

With Fall right around the corner I decided that our first segment will be a Fall nail polish color preview. So here it goes…

Time to put away the summer brights and break out the Fall palette.  I recently went to Walgreens and fell in love with the large selection the Sinful Colors line had to offer for only $1.99!!!! Definitely a steal! Below are a few of the fall colors I purchased.

Kissy – A deep, glittery, turquoise. Perfect for a night on the town. This one is by far my favorite, it reminds me of a mermaid!

Nirvana – A matte grayish chocolate. I plan on using this color on the regular. It’s very simple but elegant.

Slate – I’ve never been a fan of grey polish, but this one just called my name. I am so glad I bought it.

Burgandy – The name says it all. It’s a very deep burgundy and I loooove it! I think this color is classic and can go with anything.

Stay tuned for our next segment next week 😉
