PresentMoment SM (2)

Story Behind Foto: Recently I realized that I tend to focus too much on the future whether it is my career, mom’s health, family or relationship. I am constantly trying to figure out how to make it better, how to improve, or what is in store for me. Long story short, it is a bit exhausting and stressful!

While talking to a friend, I was reminded to “stop and smell the roses,” or in my case, relax a bit and focus on the progress I’ve made. Focus on what I have now! The conversation made me realize that if I continue to focus on what may be I am totally missing out on the NOW. I am thinking this would be a good time in my life to read, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.

So, let this be a reminder to us, “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” – Buddha

Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to participate in a fall tradition – visiting a pumpkin patch. Lemos  farm is located in Half Moon Bay, Calif., not too far from San Francisco. The farm is ideal for little ones because it offers pony rides, it has a mini train that goes on a short ride, and there’s also a hay ride, but we were unable to make because the little ones had a melt-down. Oh, and for those who are a bit older there’s also a haunted house on-site but that was not an option for us. The farm also has goats, chickens, and a little duck pond, which make a fun feeding experience for children.

Like I said, they have a pumpkin patch and they have plenty to choose from. These pumpkins inspired today’s tutorial:

Start off by using an orange nail polish to make a semi wide line through the middle of your nail, start from the mid section to the edge. Then you will follow with two semi wide lines on each side of the middle, start a little lower so you have one tall and two shorter lines.

Then with a dotting tool (or a small fine brush) dip it in a dark color, I am using a forest green, to outline the edge of your pumpkin.

Once the outlines have been defined, add a stem on top of the taller orange line.

Now you should have something similar to this:

I added color to my other two nails without a pumpkin so I would not have naked nails. You can choose to leave then are they are or add color. Depending on how creative you want to get you can also add faces or make them with different colors, totally up to you, let your creativity flow.

Products used:

  • Mad About Mango by Revlon
  • Tough Art to Follow by Finger Paints
  • a small tip dotting tool
  • a medium tip dotting tool

Let me know if you re-create these nails.

Hope you enjoy, CAT

Hi all, it’s Cristy here! On a second attempt at Foto Friday. Lets hope I do as good a job as Miss Catalina. 🙂

Story behind foto: About two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to go to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for five days and during my stay I went foto crazy! It is such a gorgeous place with some amazing views and I thought I’d share one with you all today. I took this foto from inside the pool at the resort (I know, risky taking a camera in water). I love this foto, because it captures the beauty of the ocean water and I think that the palm tree adds character to the background. In the picture you can also see the rain clouds clearing up. You see, it had just rained before I took this foto, but it was so hot and humid that I didn’t leave the pool because the fresh rain felt so great.

I hope that you enjoy this foto as much as I do.

Story behind foto: Lately I have noticed a theme with the fotos I take or is it called my style. Whatever it’s called I like to shoot objects up-close and personal.

Here you have a perfect example – a close-up of a flakey tree bark overlooking a lake. There is something that caught my attention, I ended taking multiple fotos from different angles and then I treated them with varies filter.  Here you have final result.

Thank you for visiting, CAT

A few days back I saw a featured mani on @Julepmaven (Julep, a monthly nail polish and other beauty products subscription) on Instagram and I loved it so much I had to recreate the look. The original design was created by @libedon (aka The Polished Fox).

The design is pretty simple and easy to recreate, but I specially love the color combination. The polishes I used are: “Natural” by Love & Beauty (Forever 21 nail polish line), and “Man Hunt” by China Glaze.

What do you think, you like?

Also. feel free to follow me on Intagram @Kitty5289.

Thanks for visiting, CAT.

Story behind foto: Let’s get personal here. Something you should know about me is that I really (I mean really) like black and white photos.  At times when I am shooting photos or looking at an object I immediately think “wow, this would look amazing in black and white!” And here you have it, my thought (at the moment) now in actuality – a black and white foto. As I was taking photos from different angles and using multiple settings on my little point-and-shoot camera I thought this tree stump would look amazing in black and white.

What do you think? Are you a fan of black and white photos?

Let me know what you have to say.

Enjoy, CAT
