“Start living now. Stop saving the good china for that special occasion. Stop withholding your love until that special person materializes. Every day you are alive is a special occasion. Every minute, every breath, is a gift from God.”

~Mary Manin Morrissey

Story behind foto (and quote): I happened to stumble upon a post… coincidence or not, I do not know. However, I do want to share it with YOU because it is full of great quotes, check it out here.

Here’s another awesome quotes on the list:

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

FearOf

Story Behind Foto:

I try to be as positive of an individual as possible, normally focusing on the brighter side of life rather than the negative. This does not mean I do not have dark days, and by no means does it mean I live a wonderfully stress free life. With that said, lately I have noticed that the little voice in my head will not go away (no, I am not schizophrenic nor do I have a mental illness). According to Oprah, that noise is our head is our inner voice, which is supposed to lead us to our purpose and be the North Star to life.

I am guilty. I do not always listen to that voice, but I do my best to do the right thing. Anyway, over analyzing is what I do – I am a Virgo; It is part of our nature.

After doing a little self-reflection, I attribute my not listening to the voice to fear. Yup, fear. Fear of rejection, fear of not being good enough, fear of the unknown, fear of failure.

I guess you can say I had an “aha moment,” now that I realize this I want to change. Do things differently. It will take time and it will be difficult to accomplish what my inner voice is guiding me to do, but I do not want to look back at my life and regret not doing something or at least trying.

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt

What are your fears?

Blackberry Adventure 2013

Story Behind Foto: Earlier this summer my boyfriend, Ryan, and I went on a little blackberry pickin’ adventure. I call it adventure because it involved nature, a creek, flowing water, bugs, and getting wet. See, to me, this is an adventure, to him it was something to do. As I mentioned before he has an interesting job, I think it is interesting.

Moving on, he decided we should go blackberry pickin’ in a “secret” spot off some bike trail in the Sacramento area. I agreed to this adventure and so off we went to find blackberries. He made us DIY buckets (an empty gallon of water with a handle) and a berry pickin’ stick with a hook at the end of it this way we could reach out further and get the better larger berries. We trekked down a shallow creek pickin’ berries and ended with a few pounds of the fruit. We had anticipated making some great dessert or smoothie with the fruit of our labor, but in the meantime, they’re waiting in the freezer.

Overall, we had a lot fun doing something out of the ordinary and I was able to take a few cool foto’s. Here’s one of my favorite.

Summer 2013 Butterfly

Story Behind Foto: much like butterflies, life is about becoming something better. It is about transformation, leaving our cocoon behind and reemerging as a beautiful butterfly.

Here’s a quote that inspired today’s post: “Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.” ~~ Eckhart Tolle

Good luck on your journey,

Story Behind Foto: “Life is like a camera. Just focus on what’s important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don’t turn out – take another shot.” — Unknown

I found this quote through Pinterest and I find it so inspiring and spot on. Sweet and to the point!

PresentMoment SM (2)

Story Behind Foto: Recently I realized that I tend to focus too much on the future whether it is my career, mom’s health, family or relationship. I am constantly trying to figure out how to make it better, how to improve, or what is in store for me. Long story short, it is a bit exhausting and stressful!

While talking to a friend, I was reminded to “stop and smell the roses,” or in my case, relax a bit and focus on the progress I’ve made. Focus on what I have now! The conversation made me realize that if I continue to focus on what may be I am totally missing out on the NOW. I am thinking this would be a good time in my life to read, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.

So, let this be a reminder to us, “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” – Buddha

Story Behind Foto: I am back! I apologize for my hiatus, as I mentioned in my last Foto Friday post my family has been going through some changes, but I failed to mention the entire situation. After thinking about it long and hard, I decided to share my experience. I will not be mentioning specifics because I have not discussed with my family, but I will share my experience as the daughter and caregiver of a cancer patient.

Yes, we (my family) and I have been stricken with a cancer diagnosis. As you can imagine such news is not taken lightly in fact, it is quite the opposite. Today marks the one-month post-surgery day. The extensive surgery area is healing well and slight movement has been restored. However, the next phase will be the dreaded chemotherapy. As of now, we do not have an exact start date but we do know treatment will be for a little over a year. Yes more than a year!

Therefore, in the midst of it all, I am trying to stay strong and positive, but some days are better than others.

Thank goodness for early spring and beautiful blooming trees all around us. It makes it easier to remain positive and strong when nature is so beautiful and young, sort of like an innocent child worry-free and unaware of the harsh reality of adulthood and aging parents.

Here I share a foto taken at my parents’ home. I believe this is one of their nectarine fruit trees in their front yard.

Happy Friday,

Tahoe2012

Story behind foto: Happy Friday! This week has been a rough one. It started with the loss of my grandmother, last Sunday. After her passing, I realized two things 1. The importance of family traditions 2. Things happen for a reason.

I will not go into details on this post, but I assure you I will in the future. With that said, there is a light at the end of tunnel and things always seem to workout.

What are your thoughts?
